weekend recap
My grandmother and my aunt came yesterday. Rather than me stressing out about lunch on top all the other plans, I easily gave in to G taking us all to Al Amir. I am so glad I did. The food is amazing.
After an afternoon movie, the Packs ( 4) showed up moving my total to 8. I put the finishing touches on another fine dinner while the family mingled and jason stoked the roaring fire. ( not an anology)
Dinner was served about 6pm. We had roasted lemon, apple, garlic, basil chicken. That I hear was amazing. I did indeed take a SMALL bite later and confirmed that it was very moist and flavorful. I will keep that recipe. Corn casserole, a favorite staple of mine- Thanks Paula. Cranberry sauce, and Cathy brought a very nice fresh medditeranian salad. We announced J's promotion and everyone was so excited. They loved the food. Michelle is so sweet, she always says that she cant believe a vegetarian could make a meat that is so fantastic. I try.
For desert, I made a 3 layered pineapple upside downcake that I frosted on the sides with whip cream. I must say, for a recipe I made up myself and had never tried, even I was impressed. It was so good, I might go get a piece now... My aunt had 2 slices!! The healthnut that requested a free range organic chicken and always talks to me about working out, had two slices. Another recipe for the books.
AFter watching the opera I was in at Winthrop the Packs called it a night and after a little HGTV so did we.
Breakfast was a baked french toast with apples, raisins and cinnamon. Gosh, I am really on a roll. And, I had cut up a great big bowl of fresh cantelope and red grapes. Dee-lish. Again, my aunt had seconds. I think she comes from the stock where manners dictate seconds for showing your appreciation. I love it.
SO they left. I think that will be it for my Grandmother, no offense to people with grandmothers, but I dont care to see mine again. I just dont care for her. At all. I could go into a list of reasons why, but I will save that. My aunt is not so bad. I got some kick ass Christmas presents from them. Always a plus. And I think R really liked what I gave her. Especially the chihuahua book.
So, thats it. I am recaping now, at noon on SUnday because I plan on doing nothing for the rest of the day. OF course then it isnt nothing because it is my plan.
